Conversion Connundrum

Was it really wise for Barry to go on about his father's and familie's Islamic roots since in many Arab countries to leave Islam, the religion on one's father and convert to Chritianity is still grounds for execution? He has labelled himself in the eyes of Muslims, an infidel to their faith.
